THE CHRONICLES OF DAGAD TRIKON
Instalment 3
At this moment the wizard joined them briefly to comment on the supernatural properties of the library.
“Can you imagine books you do not read with your eyes only but with your entire being? In the Gnostic library, we deal with perception, not erudition. Ah” he added with nostalgy “ I just love these books. I can simply touch them, look at them, feel their presence and it keeps me company.
The alert reader does not absorb the content in the form of bookish knowledge; he becomes the content.
- How so?” Asked Evenyl. Raised in the clan of Eleksim, she had been trained in the Deep Way but she knew that there were many secrets of her race hidden in the secret library of the Sand Keeper. Her father had told her that even the high Avasthas had not accessed all the inner powers dormant in them. She was intrigued by the explanation and excited at the opportunity to learn more from the immensely learned wizard.
“Well, let me give you a simple example. On the shelves of the library of Elnur there is an essay on pineapple fruits. When my attendants are thirsty, they read this book and their papillae actually taste and enjoy the juicy savor of the pineapple. They are refreshed and satiated for a couple of hours. In short, the content of the Gnostic magic registers directly on your central nervous system. More wonderful,” he added with a rare tone of longing, “in the library of Eleksim, there is this magisterial work, a voluminous treatise on the 108 flavors of bliss. You cannot imagine what a feast this reading can bring to the fortunate reader. It is quite, well, mind blowing. Of course, access to the treatise is restricted to the most deserving hearts and I know none left today with the training to absorb its content.
- Master, is this how the Kavach worked on me? Is it because I received the names of power on my central nervous system?
- Quite so Evenyl. When the nerves are purified, evil has no support to stay in your thoughts, emotions or limbs. It worked fast for you because of your level, my dear. You did well, “he added as an after thought and with a smile at the girl,” because you always strived to cover more ground in your self enquiry. The force of the Kavach comes from inside. Now please follow Agnorth to have a last glimpse at the lore of the Avasthas.”
Each main floor of the aerial wooden structure contained the records of the knowledge of a great House. On each main floor, the library displayed bibliotheca of various baroque shapes and sizes aligned in a preordained symbolic order. Each floor included space to accommodate visitors with rich carpets, embroided pillows and golden gilded lamps. Higher up and on both sides, arched bridges led to separate structures containing the material relating to the domains of the Yellow Feather on the right and of the Blue Feather on the left .
The librarian led them through the various floors with a certain solemnity. As they started the visit he commented in some details: “On the ground floor, the records of Kalabham are contained in these richly engraved ochre colored books. Kalabham is the House of the pure and the wise. You will find here the compendium of the essential principles of the Deep Way and a description of the foundations of Avasthic culture. It includes children’s drawings and their sayings, which are mostly a collection of aphorisms. We can learn about the fountains of wisdom, spontaneity, the atomic nature of innocence and the cipher of the Gate of the Elephant which, it is said, can also break open the seven seals.
-Atomic? I do not understand” interrupted Lidholon.
“If you break an atom you release a destructive energy. It is the same if you break innocence,”
answered Agnorth, quite matter of fact and as if this was the most obvious thing in the world.
Here and there, on the walls, they could see ornate maps describing the landscapes of energy within the human body and the continents of the planet. Various perfumes and exquisite scents were floating in the air and the atmosphere instantly reminded Etakir of the blessed cave of the Lady of Dagad Trikon. The librarian added:
“The House of Kalabham maintained on earth the protocol of the secret magnetism which binds the universe together. Only by riding the waves of the Elephant’s magnet, can Avasthas and men reach the heavens. But the wizard told us that only children can decipher its cryptogram, so let us move on.” They climbed briskly the stairs to the second floor, following the explanations of their guide:
“On the second level, in the golden books you will find lessons learnt from the lives of Avasthas who have achieved excellence in their field of activity while mastering the art of effortless action. You also can admire here the large collection of the Precepts of Falkiliad, which, as you know, is the house of the doer.” He added smugly:
“You can find everything that matters to achieve excellence in music, poetry, art, architecture, literature and science. As you can see, this lovely arched bridge from the second level takes you to the section dealing with the golden channel ruled by the Yellow Feather; the subjects are clearly related. This section explains the system governing the power of action, how to combine effortlessness, efficiency and elegance. Access is restricted. You know, this knowledge is dangerous if falling in wrong hands. Few people dominate action, most are dominated by it. Often people cannot handle success. Self-importance and conceit swallow them. ”
They admired the delicately sculptured statue of a monkey in white marble on the other side of the bridge. Most volumes were bound in fine leather carrying various shades of yellow, the colors of the House of Falkiliad, with embossed titles in pink gold.
Agnorth pursued. “When the people are under the power of this feather, its color is yellow. When higher beings such as the Aulyas master its power, the color is golden as it is on the helmet of the lord Kartik, commander in chief of the heavenly armies who was born of the fire. He has many names of course such as golden hued, splendid, and effulgent slayer of mighty foes.” The librarian was visibly enjoying himself. It wasn’t often that he could display his knowledge.
- What’s in for us when we master the Yellow Feather? Esitel was finding their guide a bit pedantic.
