Sakshi Pokhari :: The pond of the witness

Walking in the night

Dusk has engulfed the metropolis. The young mother is wearing a silk blue turquoise and green punjabi that shines softly in the lights of the stores. She carries in her arms her child, sleeping under a blanket. She walks slowly, her head upright, exuding a calm pride of which she is not conscious.

She is holding the most precious burden in the entire world and, under her long eyelashes, her gaze comes from far away, watching in a detached mood the constant agitation of the city. The noises of the street don't reach her. The gait of a mother brings to the world a priceless nobility and it is this that shall save this world.
